Touring with Lindisfarne, this was the final night of the tour as it turned out - the final gig in London didn't take place. Though I like both bands, the opening Strawbs set just knocked Lindisfarne off the stage.

This is a unique gig. Owing to clashes with other commitments, neither Brian Willoughby nor Rod Demick were able to play. Chas stepped in on bass, and Paul Wiffen was brought in on guitar. Paul, who writes widely on music technology in Sound on Sound magazine and elsewhere, recounted to me that he approached the gig with some trepidation - after he'd learnt the setlist hurriedly from the albums, the rehearsal time allocated was somewhat eroded by technical problems and "relaxation" at the local boozer. Still it all went well enough so no harm done.
