STRAWBSWEBNEWS - AUGUST 2013

Sent by Dick Greener, 27 August 2013

Hi all

Many many apologies for radio silence over the last month or so - I'm afraid I've been busy dealing with some personal stuff to do with work (Sadly, I'll be leaving the company I've been with for 31 years at the end of this year - I guess it'll give me more time work on Strawbsweb!)

But here's an update on some major things to look forward to, and some up and coming events.

Cheers

DICK

US CRUISING 2014 - ELECTRIFIED
==============================

Strawbs were so well received on the 2013 Moody Blues Cruise that they have been invited back again, not only to the Moodies Cruise, but a further cruise featuring the music of Yes and associated bands.

But NBB - both cruises will feature the full electric band this time, the first US trip for the full band in a few years!!

The line-up (other than Cousins, Lambert and Cronk) is not yet confirmed, and there is the possibility that further electric band gigs may be booked in the US after the cruises finish, but PLEASE DON'T ASK FOR INFO AS I HAVEN'T GOT IT YET.

BRIAN AND CATHRYN NEWS

RUMOURS OF RAIN REBORN
----------------------

Check out the YouTube video - http://youtu.be/q9jlYN8NpwABrian and Cathryn have started promoting their Folk For Peace 'Rumours of Rain' project again with string support from Facebook readers. Radio Warwickshire's Tamsin Rosewell has been very helpful and it's playing on RadioWarks - http://tinyurl.com/lp55b32. Radio Teesdale and Bishop FM are also keenly promoting it.The recording has a truly impressive international Folk Star line-up! Let's hope they can achieve their original goal, of collecting funds to help children injured in war zones.

REAL WORLD
----------

Their latest album 'Real World' has had some brilliant reviews- check these out on their website - www.craigandwilloughby.com

==========================================
TEDDINGTON SOCIETY - BURSTING AT THE SEAMS
==========================================

Dave Cousins presents a video snapshot of Teddington. The film produced by local cameraman Alan Benns, is cut to edited music (*) by Strawbs from their album "Bursting at the seams": an apt title for the many and varied activities in the borough. Edited by Brian West, the film uses over 250 video images in just over 8 minutes. This is Teddington Society's entry to "Twickenham Alive Film Festival 2013', which won an award.

* (The backing music is the instrumental bits from such tracks as Lay Down, Lady Fuschia, Flying and Tears and Pavan)
